About the Conference
The African Institute of Public Health Professionals (AIPHP), in collaboration with the Institute for Health Professionals Development (IHPD-SL) and its partners, is pleased to announce the 8th Annual International Public Health Conference and Induction Ceremony, scheduled to take place from 10th–12th November 2026 at the Freetown International Conference Centre, Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Under the theme, “Strengthening Health Systems for Resilience and Sustainability in Africa,” this year's conference will provide an important platform for public health professionals, researchers, policymakers, academics, healthcare practitioners, development partners, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share experiences, explore innovative solutions, and discuss strategies for building stronger and more resilient health systems across the African continent.
Why This Conference Matters
Africa continues to face complex and evolving public health challenges, including emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, health workforce shortages, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, health inequalities, and the effects of climate change on population health.
Addressing these challenges requires strong health institutions, evidence-based policies, sustainable financing, skilled human resources, innovative research, and effective collaboration across sectors and national boundaries.
The 8th Annual International Public Health Conference seeks to advance these priorities by creating a collaborative space for meaningful discussions, scientific presentations, professional networking, and knowledge exchange. It will bring together experts and emerging professionals from across Africa and beyond to identify practical approaches to strengthening health systems and improving health outcomes.
The conference will also provide opportunities for researchers, students, and public health practitioners to showcase their work, contribute to scientific discussions, and build professional networks that support the advancement of public health practice.
Professional Induction Ceremony
A major highlight of the event will be the induction of distinguished public health professionals into the African Institute of Public Health Professionals.
The induction ceremony will formally recognise and welcome selected professionals into the Institute's professional membership categories, including Fellows, Full Members, and Associate Members.
This milestone represents more than professional recognition. It reflects a commitment to excellence, ethical practice, leadership, continuous professional development, research, and service to public health.
Through this initiative, AIPHP continues to strengthen the professional identity of public health practitioners while promoting a network of competent, committed, and forward-thinking professionals dedicated to improving population health across Africa.
The ceremony will also celebrate the achievements, dedication, and contributions of professionals working to transform public health systems and advance the health and well-being of communities.
A Platform for Collaboration and Professional Growth
The conference and induction ceremony will serve as an opportunity to:
· Promote scientific research, innovation, and evidence-based public health practice.
